Maldives My Islands magazine launched in Fuvahmulah

The inaugural edition of Maldives My Islands magazine was launched today at the Pelagic Divers Fuvahmulah Center, marking a significant milestone in the development of the Maldives-based publication.

The magazine was officially launched by Ahmed Inah, Managing Director of Pelagic Divers Fuvahmulah, at a ceremony held at the centre in Fuvahmulah.

Published as a biannual magazine, Maldives My Islands brings together articles exploring the Maldives’ biodiversity, fisheries, history and culture. The publication aims to document the country’s natural and cultural heritage while highlighting the distinctive stories, places and traditions found across the Maldivian islands.

The inaugural edition brings together a collection of stories centred on the Maldives’ relationship with the sea and its islands, while also looking at aspects of history, culture and everyday life that form part of the country’s identity.

The magazine is an extension of the work of Maldives My Islands, an independent platform dedicated to documenting and sharing stories about the Maldives. Since its establishment, the platform has published articles covering biodiversity, fisheries, history, culture and other aspects of life in the archipelago.

The launch in Fuvahmulah also carries significance for the publication, as the city has been an important part of the Maldives My Islands project and its coverage of the country’s natural heritage.

The publication is planned as a biannual magazine, with future editions continuing to explore different aspects of the Maldives and its islands.

An electronic version of the inaugural edition will be made available on the Maldives My Islands website this week, allowing readers in the Maldives and overseas to access the magazine online.

The launch marks an important new chapter for Maldives My Islands as it continues its endeavour to document, preserve and share the stories, heritage and distinct character of the Maldives.
